Eric Bibb and Ruthie Foster, separately and together, are at the forefront of a new generation of blues and soul singer/songwriters. On this show, Eric will perform solo and Ruthie with her band, but interaction between the two will also be featured. In fact, the tour title is drawn from a song Eric wrote for Ruthie for her 2009 release The Truth According to Ruthie Foster, which hit #1 on the Roots Blues chart. Ruthie also sang on Eric's latest studio album, Get On Board.
Already enjoying success in Europe, Grammy® nominee Eric Bibb is becoming a familiar face - and voice - in the U.S. Nominated for nine W.C. Handy Blues Music Awards and winner of the "Best Newcomer" title in the British Blues Awards, Bibb has been appropriately described as "discreetly awesome" and "a total original". As his popularity escalates, earlier comparisons to legendary greats Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal are being replaced by quotes that speak to Bibb's ability to "use standard blues ingredients to cook up something all his own".
Ruthie Foster's blend of gospel, blues, folk, and soul has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin, Tracy Chapman and Joan Armatrading. Ruthie's recent fast-track growth now sees her schedule filled with world-wide touring, headlining her own concerts, featured at the world's most prestigious festivals, and in collaborations with the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Warren Haynes, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Derek Trucks. O: The Oprah Magazine hails her as a "blues powerhouse".
